柏杨的暧昧身份体现在,他一面为台湾自由主义阵地的《自由中国》撰稿,一面又隶属于蒋经国领导下的青年救国团,而骨子里则是一个乡野气息浓重的文人。他的调侃、批判和犯禁,可以在这种夹缝状态中找到源头。他的文化疗救宏图,也由此掺杂了种种悖谬、乖离和陷阱,因而是消极的和不彻底的。

The ambiguity of Bo Yang's identity is due to his continuous contributions to Free China,a vanguard journal of liberalism in Taiwan on the one hand,and his affiliation with China Youth Corps(CYC) under the leadership of Chiang Ching-kuo on the other hand,while as an intellectual rustic to the bone.His derision,criticism and challenges of authorities can always trace back to his hybrid position on the brink.The agenda of his cultural remedy thus incorporates a variety of paradoxes,warps and decoys and is pessimistic and incomplete.
