Chen Yingzhen's Novella Zhao Nandong narrates a deep tragedy in the serious manner of realism. The novella reflects on the loss of values as the consequence of the diminishing of the Revolutionary discourse during the transitory period of Taiwan, and touches upon the issue of cultural hegemony in the new phase of that society.
