Wen Renping, a Malaysian poet, represents in his poetry multifarious aspects of Chineseness, the most obvious of which is the Qu Yuan complex in terms of emotive feelings. Qu serves as a literary resource for him, and a concrete embodiment of Chineseness. The frequent use of some Chinese characters by all means reflects the natural flow of his Chineseness. Chineseness in his poems composed in the 1970s and 1980s manifests a strategic change from being marked to being covered.
