The betrayals of fathers are what reoccur in Li Zishu's fictions. Although the portrayals of fathers are absent, the fathers are never non-present, who represent their'omnipresence'by being not present in a particular time and space. Her characters are abandoned to live in the between-world of masculinity and femininity. Fathers always find reasons for their absence to mark their bold presence, which generates the daughters' anxiety and anger. Her female characters call for strong personas in their life, who substitute the absent fathers.
