抗战期间及战后初期,印尼华文戏剧蓬勃发展,演剧运动品种丰富、内容多彩。以巴人为代表的中国南来作家在印尼开展进步的文化活动,巴人创作了他的南洋题材作品中最重要、艺术成就也最高的《五祖庙》,成为印尼华文戏剧的先驱者之一。本土的剧本创作也出现了前所未有的繁荣景象,无论在数量上,还是在质量上,都比以往有了很大的提高,可以说是印华戏剧史上收获丰盛的黄金时代。

Indonesian Chinese-language drama made a boost in its development during and right after the Anti-Japanese War period.A variety of dramas were performed.Ba Ren,along with the immigrant Chinese writers,played a key role in the progressive cultural activities,and wrote his representative drama The Temple of the Fifth Buddha,leading to a prosperous phenomenon of the native play-writing both in quantity and quality.The period was a golden age of Indonesian Chinese-language drama in history.
