摘要
2000年10月,在香港岭南大学召开的"张爱玲与现代中文文学国际研讨会"上,夏志清发表了题为《张爱玲与鲁迅及其他》的讲演,大骂鲁迅为中共的"走狗",吹捧张爱玲是"最有尊严的中国人",同时肆意贬低丁玲等左翼作家。这个讲演是夏氏深入骨髓的"冷战思维"的大发作,也是他学术水准的大滑坡。
Chih-tsing Hsia delivered a lecture of Eileen Chang and Lu Xun and Others in the International Symposium on Eileen Chang and Modern Chinese Literature in Lingnan University,Hong Kong in October,2008.At the conference,Hsia criticized Lu Xun fiercely as the 'Running Dog' of the Communist Party while referred to Eileen Chang with great fanfare as the 'Most Dignified Chinese.' At the same time,he ruthlessly degraded Ding Ning and other leftist writers.This lecture is an eruption of Hsia's ingrained Cold War mentality,which in no way tallies with his former academic achievements.
