Understanding and Practice of PUS in China

公众理解科学运动不但能够实现公众通过科学参与民主的需要,而且能够促进以科学为核心的知识经济的发展,对于中国而言,它还是补中国传统文化之不足的文化事件。因此公众理解科学是一个随着科技的进步、国情的变化以及世界文明的演进而内涵不断丰富变化的综合性概念。

The PUS movement can not only meet the demands of the public of participating in democratic affairs through scientific activities, but also promote the development of knowledge economy based on science. To China, PUS is also a cultural movement which compensates the deficiency of Chinese traditional culture. Therefore, PUS is a comprehensive concept with rich connotations changing with the progress of science and technology, the status of China and the evolution of world civilization.
