This article introduces 'Odds·Culture',a latest series of installation of the U.S. sculptor,Jonathan W. Hils. With this work,Hils expresses his personal perspective regarding American poli-tics and culture: in the U.S.,there is a 'culture war',meaning the existence of a difference in beliefs between conservative and liberal people. Odds·Culture means that the conservative,religious ideology is really working against American values; and this way of thinking is at Odds with American’s culture and history. Odds·Culture revolves around a purely American icon— NASCAR,which has generally been aligned with a very religious (Christian) and very conserva-tive (Republican) thinking. The sculptor made his work thinking about a way to both criticize and enlighten people to the nature of this sport to help guide or promote conservative,Republican politics that influences many people in the U.S to not think independently and follow ideas that are not really in their best interest'. Right Turn',one work of this installation series,won Hils the 21st Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition Grand Prize Award.
