南朝时期,文风清绮,士人尚玄好佛,清谈极乐甚嚣,然而儒的精神并未湮没,时有发作。作为此时的骈文名家,鲍照虽注重雕琢辞藻,但其骈文以风格古朴浑厚、骨力劲健而显示出汉魏文风的一些特征,代表了"寒士的强烈呼声",颇显慷慨之气。
