博雅教育、文理贯通教育的目的是培养能够自由地对新变化的境遇独立做出正确判断的人——绅士。一个大学的社会声望,最终还是决定于它培养的学生对社会的贡献。因此培养学生的谋生技能、判断能力、社会良知和审美观念是大学教育的发展方向。
