浅谈中国文化对外翻译的历史及功能

On the History and Functions of Translating Chinese Culture to the World

本文从中国文化所具有的可译价值性出发,简略地回顾了中国文化的对外翻译历史,介绍了至今为止对外翻译在传播中国文化中所具有的作用与功能。文章立足于历史,肯定了包括传教士在内的西方学者们在翻译与传播中国文化过程中曾经发挥的重大作用,明确指出了在各种条件都已成熟的现在,肩负起对外翻译并传播中国文化事业重任的,理应是中国学者特别是中国的翻译工作者。

This paper proceeds from the value of Chinese culture, has a brief review on the history of translating Chinese culture to the world and introduces its functions in publicizing Chinese culture from the past till now.The paper acknowledges the essential role that western scholars including missionaries of Christianity have ever played during the process of translating and introducing Chinese culture to the world by finding home in history,and explicitly points out that in nowadays,with all conditions available,it is the Chinese scholars particularly Chinese translators who should take on the significant task of translating and publicizing Chinese cultural undertaking to the world.
