The Mission of the Time and the Development Trend of New Ethics

从本质上言,学术始终是生命展开的进程,由此,理论永远没有终结与完美,唯一可以确信的是:学术的探索和理论的构建,始终标识为开始。一种学术,一种思考,一种由思考和思想而生成的理论,惟有当它具备了开始的精神品质与内在动力,它才真正称得上是一种学术、一种思考、一种思想、一种理论。新伦理学亦应如此:它伴随着王海明先生《新伦理学》的问世而开始了自我的神圣时代使命;它不断得到传播、理解、运用、批评及其向更新更广领域拓展的过程,则是担当自我责任迈向新征程的开始:新伦理学作为一种标志,一种象征,一种转向,就蕴含在它不断开始、不断起步这一过程之中。所以,新伦理学不是一种静态的理论,也不是一种已完成的思想,而是一种精神运动、思想运动和方法运动过程,在过程中展开与发展,在过程中丰富和提升、开掘与拓展,这就是新伦理学的伦理精神。

In essence, academic study is the unfolding process of life. Therefore, there will be no finish line or perfection of theories. The only thing that is certain is: academic exploration and theoretic construction is always a new start. A study, thinking, thought, and the theory when it is reached can only be called so in the true meaning of their respective terms when they attain a spiritual nature and internal dynamics. This is the case for new ethics. With the publishing of New Ethics by Wang Haiming, new ethics begins the sacred mission of the time. The process of its being spread out, understood, applied and criticized, is the new start for new ethics to take a turn and move ahead. New ethics is not a static theory, nor a finished thought. It is a process of spiritual activity, a thinking activity and method activity, where it gets unfolded and develops into a richer and upgraded state. This is the ethical spirit of new ethics.
