摘要
夏洛克是莎士比亚戏剧中塑造的一个典型形象,同时也是一个颇有争议的人物形象。传统观点认为夏洛克狠毒、阴险、贪婪、吝啬,一无是处。但这样的评论是片面的,因为夏洛克的性格中还有积极的一面,他勇敢、机智、精明、能言善辩,值得同情。
Shylock,a typical image created by Shakespeare in his drama,is a controversial character.Traditionally,he is regarded as cruel,malicious,greedy and miserly and has nothing good in him.However,such comments are somewhat partial,for there are still certain positive aspects in his personality.He is bold,alert,shrewd and worth sympathizing with.Through analyzing the social background he is in and his personal relations,this article gives some analysis about Shylock's multifold personalities.
