Viewing the Value of the Times of Montaigne's Thought From <On the Uncertainty of Human Nature>

作为文艺复兴时期的思想家和作家,蒙田在人性一元论、永恒论的社会文化背景下,提出人性是复杂的、变化的,意识到了社会性因素对人性的影响,并在此基础上提出了“判断”必须建立在对人、对物的全面性、深入性观察基础之上的命题,这在当时无疑具有极大的思想价值和进步意义。

As a thinker and writer in the period of Renaissance, under the cultural background of human nature Monism and the social culture eternal theory,Montaigne put forward that human nature was complex and changeable and also felt the influence of the social factor on human nature.On the above foundation he put forward that 'judging' must be set up on the proposition of overall and deep observation of man and material,which no doubt had maximum thinking value and advanced meaning in that time.
