Library and the Traditional Idea of Harmony

和谐是中国思想文化中一个深刻而伟大的理念,但是中国社会追求和谐的历史过程表明,传统和谐思想始终面临着现实政治与理想世界的矛盾,面临着"德治"与"法治"的观念冲突,特别是和谐常常被赋予工具性质,只服务于特定的阶级或利益集团。在新的社会条件下,图书馆人要促进社会和谐、构建自身和谐,就必须在那些相互冲突的观念之间作出正确的选择。

Harmony is a profound and great idea of Chinese culture, but the traditional idea of harmony was always confronted with the contradiction between the Realpolitik and the ideal world, especially, the idea of harmony was being used to serve the specific class or special interest group. The paper reflects on how the library to make correct choice among the conflicting ideas and promote the social harmony in the new society.
