The library and information specialists have been taking part in the research and de- velopment of search engines,which not only enriches the research realm of search engine,but also develops search engine with elements of library and information science.In research and develop- ment of search engines,we can use some traditional retrieval methods such as time,geography,re- source type,documental format and access address etc.In addition,we can also use some informa- tion services such as SDI,on-going project service and consultation service etc.Aside from the a- bove mentioned we can also use the methods of information organization such as classification,inde- xing and abstracting,thematic approach,the analysis of layout of web page etc.
