Improving the Effectiveness of Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection——Practice in historical relics protection planning and management in Shanghai

按照“正确定位、完善规划、理顺体制、有序推进”的原则,上海规划部门从明确保护对象、推进保护规划编制、推动保护工作立法、确立保护机制等四方面开展落实工作,积极探索适应上海城市特点的风貌保护方法。本文着重对这四方面工作进行详细论述。

Following the guideline of 'right positioning, improved planning, streamlined administration, and methodical progress', Shanghai's city planners endeavor to fig- ure out an appropriate way to protect the city's valuable relics by four approaches: identifying protection targets, driving protec- tion planning, urging protection legislation, and establishing a protection mechanism. This article discusses the four approaches in detail.
