古代官吏退休称为“致仕”.宋代以前,中国社会尚未形成完整而严密的官吏致仕即官吏退休制度.北宋前期,宋代逐步建立了比较严密的官吏致仕制度.该制度规定了官吏致仕的条件、方式,官吏致仕后的俸禄待遇、安置以及致仕的奖惩制度等问题.宋代统治者通过实施这个制度,推动了官吏队伍的新陈代谢,达到巩固其统治的目的.

In ancient society,the retirements of government's officials were called 'zhishi'.Before Song Dynasty,the Chinese society had not formed a intact and rigorous system of governments' officials' retirements from governments.In early stage of North Song Dynasty,North Song Dynasty had set up a more rigorous retirement system of government's officials.This system stipulated such questions as the terms and ways of officials'retirements,the officials' retirement pensions、arrangements,and the rewarding and penalizing policies when the officials had resigned.Through carrying out the system, the rulers of North Song Dynasty renewed the team of governments' officials smoothly,and achieved the goal of consolidating their governance.
