Both agate and its carving make Fuxin well known in China. Thanks to agate, Fuxin becomes a famous city and 'Fuxin Agate Carving' has been now listed into the State-class nonmaterial cultural heritage. Recently the China Fuxin Agate Festival was successfully held in Fuxin, Liaoning Province. Agate, or camelian, is a kind of precious stone, belonging to jade. It looks naturally colorful and gorgeous because of its changeable vein. Generally, agate is translucent or not lucent. Its colors look red, white, yellow, blue, black, purple, green and brown. The jade articles discovered in Hutougou of Fuxin are regarded as the first batch of Hongshan Jade Articles in China. Some of production tools, daily appliance and adornment are made of agate. The works of Fuxin agate carving include vessels, characters, flowers, animals and mountains. The Fuxin agate carving is a superior handcraft. All the productions look artistic workmanship of stylists and gravers, who must have knowledge of literature, history, painting, carving and calligraphy. Among them, the famous master is called Li Hongbin. The works made by Li look very brilliant and exquisite.
