A Comparison between "Romeo and Juliet" and "The Peony Pavilion"

莎士比亚的名剧《罗密欧与朱丽叶》和汤显祖的代表作《牡丹亭》都出现在16世纪90年代,相差只有三年。两个剧本在题材流变、戏剧冲突、人物形象、文化要义等方面,有许多共同之处。通过对这两个剧本的对比分析,可以进一步了解汤显祖戏曲和莎士比亚戏剧的异同,从而促进东西方文化交流。

An outstanding feature of Song-dynasty poems is that they are usually creative in themes and full of philosophical speculation in contents.Besides these enlightening philosophical thoughts,a theme of current times-delight was also shown in song-dynasty poems.Seeking and describing this kind of "delight" were prevalent at that time.This paper analyses the characteristics of song-dynasty poems in two aspects-"reason" and "delight" and probes into the aesthetic inclination of song-dynasty poem.
