劳伦斯和郁达夫小说的性伦理思想主要体现为:反对理性、道德对人性的干预;主张回归人的自然本性;追求"灵"、"肉"相谐。他们从自己的性伦理标准出发,塑造了一系列具有或丑陋或理想的性关系的人物形象。这对于揭露批判资本主义工业文明对人性的扭曲、封建道德对生命本能的压抑,创建情欲相谐、灵肉统一的新型两性关系具有积极意义。由于劳伦斯在否定资产阶级道德的同时,也否定了任何道德的必要,因而他的性伦理是有缺陷的。郁达夫用充满人道精神的性伦理来反对传统的封建伦理,因而社会现实意义更大一些。
