This paper introduces the contribution of early Australian ethnographers to world anthropology and the roles they had played in the study of indigenous people.By presenting the study of indigenous people by Austrian anthropologists,the author hopes to provide useful data and experiences that Chinese anthropologists can draw lessons from in localizing a western anthropology and setting up a Chinese system for anthropological study.
