On the Political Nature and Systems of Xinyu

《新语》不是当今学者津津乐道的哲学家、思想家与政治家对抗模式下的"道统"之作,而是站在帝国秩序的立场上,与统治者互动、合作甚至合一的、自觉的帝国政治理论体系建构。《新语》构成了一个完整的政治理论体系,即从"因世而权行"到"统理"的政治学说,它是汉初君臣政治理论的共识。

Xinyu was not a dogmatic writing amidst the rivalry of philosophers,thinkers and politicians,but rather a conscientious structuring of imperialist political theories from the standpoint of imperialist order and by interacting,cooperating and unifying with the rulers.Xinyu shaped a complete political theoretic system,i.e.,weighing actions in view of the prevailing ways of the world,which was a common understanding reached by the lords and ministers in the early Han dynasty.
