清代台湾的“护番保产”与“简经贌垦案”

清代台湾土地迅速开发,汉族移民与少数民族的矛盾日益突出,为保护处于弱势地位的少数民族,清政府实施"护番保产"政策。乾隆十六年,彰化县连续发生两起因汉族简经占耕"番地",并欠缴地租及丁饷而引发的"简经贌垦"杀人命案。该案查办历时两年有余,颇费周折,可以说是有清一代处理类似"民番"纠纷案用功最多的一次,凸显了清政府"护番保产"的良苦用心。尽管如此,由于种种原因,历史上的"护番保产"并未收到实效。
