《中国图书馆分类法》(第4版)地区复分表存在类目设置不合理、类目粗略、分类繁琐复杂等问题。字母改造方案可以很好地解决这些问题,改造方法包括:对被分散列类的国家类目进行改造;采用原复分号加1-2位字母标记的方法进行类目加细;统一使用标识符号,取消加"0"及中国地区表内的专用表,以解决长期以来容易出错的问题。实例分析表明,字母改造方案具有编号简单易行、便于标引等特点。
