摘要
本实证研究从语法形式、语法意义和语用功能三个方面讨论英语学习者对英语根意义情态动词和认识意义情态动词习得难度的问题。研究发现中国英语学习者在根意义情态动词和认识意义动词的语法形式和语用功能方面的习得难度没有显著差异,而在语法意义方面,学习者对认识意义情态动词的习得情况比根意义情态动词好,这一结论与以往的研究结果相反。造成这一结果的原因,一是与学习者的心理成熟程度有关,二是与注意力的控制有关。
This empirical study investigates the learning difficulty order of English root and epistemic modal verbs by Chinese English learners on three dimensions,form,meaning and use.It is found that Chinese English learners behave differently on these dimensions.As to the syntactic form and pragmatic use,no significant differences were detected for the performances of root and epistemic English modals.While on the semantic meaning dimension,Chinese learners performed better on the epistemic meanings than on the ro...
