中国古代的文化专制制度既是专制政治制度在思想文化领域的体现 ,又是专制政治制度得以实现的重要保障。先秦时期是中国历史的幼年时期 ,也是中国古代文化专制制度的形成时期 ,具体特征表现为少数人对文化的垄断 ,即垄断型的文化制度。这不仅与当时社会和思想文化的低水平发展有关 ,而且是“学在官府”的知识垄断局面的必然产物。

Cultural dictatorial system in ancient China is both the reflection of dictatorial system in ideology and the assurance of its realization. The pre_Qin era is the childhood of Chinese history as well as the initial stage of the system, characterized by the cultural monopolization of the minority--monopoly cultural system. This is not only related to the underdeveloped social and ideological level, but also is the inevitable outcome of the knowledge monopoly system, with schools run solely by the government.
