On the following basis that the infromation in library should adjust to the characteristics of infirmation age,traditional mentality should be changed and the awareness of electronic information searching should be strengthened,the supportive role of the information work in the teaching and scientific research in higher education is discussed here .Moreover a method to optimize its role is presented.
