Discusses the localization process of modernism literature in the 1920's and 1930's in China. Considers that modernism literature was a heterogeneous culture introduced from the west. It is quite a long period that its first 'new guest' status was later turned into 'a naturalized citizen'. In the interval, Chinese modern literary authors in 1920's housed a basic attitude of both expectation and hesitation towards Modernism, 'the new comer from abroad'. During that time, Modernism was only an element widely distributed. In 1930's, China's modernism literature experiments experienced a breakthrough of certain degree. But this breakthrough seemed to be very weak because of the pre-eminent history setting of country and race extinction, and realism literature being mainstream. China's modernism predestination already saw the clues at that time.
