ZHUANG Zhou's Thoughts on "Man

庄子认为 ,关于人的思考不能只是建立在把人当作现成的物种的基础之上 ,从人和万物的区别处着手探讨人 ,因为这样遗忘了人和道之间的根本性牵连。他意识到了人 (万物 )和道的存在论区分与关联 ,一方面 ,因为同为“一气”,人和万物具有齐一性 ;另一方面 ,人又是天道的唯一领会者、万物的守护者。

Zhuangzi holds that thoughts about man's nature should avoid considering him as a kind of species or discussing man's nature based on the distinctions between man and things, because it forgets the essential relationship between them. Zhuangzhou, different from others, reflects the difference and relationship between man/ things and Tao. On the one hand, human is identified with things since they both are made up of 'the same gas (Qi)'; on the other hand, man is the unique species who understands Tao and takes care of all the things.
