The Conscience of Russia and the Soul of China——A Comparison between the Thoughts of Maksim Gorky and Those of Lu Xun

高尔基和鲁迅是在各自不同的文化土壤上产生的两个在精神上相似的文化巨人 ,他们并不把自己定位在无产阶级作家的轴心上 ,他们更愿意做全人类的作家 ,他们的人道主义思想闪烁着人类良知的永恒的光辉。作为思想超前的先觉 ,他们不合时宜的孤军独唱。他们都曾是被人们化妆过的偶像 ,至今那被化妆过的一部分也许还未被完全清除 ,或许还在被人们化妆着 ,要全面地、真正地认识他们的本来面目是困难的。

Cultivated in two different cultures, Maksim Gorky and Lu Xun are much alike in soul as two giants among writers. They preferred to be considered to be writers of all human beings rather than be regarded as writers of proletariats. The eternal human conscience is shining out of their humanism thoughts. As thoughtful prophets, they struggled alone at the wrong time. They were once masked idols admired by people. The part that has been masked maybe isn't cleared away completely, or ever is being masked now; therefore, it is not easy for people to learn them thoroughly and tritely.
