This paper systematically translates and edits some materials about what' mitoehondria' is and the tech- nique of mtDNA.The technique of mtDNA is widely used in the identifications of maternal lineage,criminal investiga- tions,civil and criminal lawsuits,defences,serious disastrous investigations and wars.When marshals,criminal defendants and all the necessary participants in civil processes have a better understanding of the distinction between the technique of mtDNA and DNA fingerprint,they can make good use of mtDNA technique so as to avoid mistakes in cases and infringe- ment of legal rights of people.
