In the circle of Chinese poetic studies of the 20th century, Ye Gongchuo is known to be a celebrated collector and compiler of the literatures of ci_poetry in Qing Dynasty. He asserts that the traditional forms of ci composition should be modified to keep pace with the new aesthetic requirements of times.
