摘要
本文探讨了英语词汇中的性别歧视现象,并在权势论和双文化论的方法基础上对该现象做了社会语言学分析。文章最后指出语言本身并不含有性别歧视含义,而且消除语言中的性别歧视现象是可能的。
This paper observes the sexism in English vocabulary. The first part is an introdution to the sexism in Enghsh vocabulary. The second part is a list of the evidences of the phenomenon. The third part is to have a sociolinguistic analysis of the phenomenon based on power-dominance approach and two-culture approach. Finally,the author agrees that language themselves may not be sexist and it may also be quite possible to try to rid language of whatever is 'sexist'in it.
