近现代中国是一个复杂的矛盾体。生存在传统与现代“夹缝”中的中国现代知识分子及作家 ,以深沉而理智的历史主义眼光审视着这片“生于斯、长于斯”的古老土地 ,在整体性的审美视野中生发出“小城”这一历史文化形态 ,并从审美意识、忧患意识和家园意识的多维角度 ,将其上升为审美本体和哲学本体 ,从而探索出现代作家博大的人文精神世界。

Modern and contemporary times China is a complex contradictory entity.In the large historical context, the modern Chinese intellectuals, who led an existence of a dilemma between tradition and modernity, examined the ancient earth where they were born and brought up with a profound and intellectual historical perspective; generated the historical and cultural morphology 'township' in the integrative aesthetic viewfield; moreover, from a multi dimensional perspective of aesthetic consciousness, hardship consciousness and homeland consciousness, elevated the 'township' to the level of aesthetic and philosophical ontology.
