沂沭细石器文化主要是适应原始畜牧业的产生和发展而兴起的 ,这一文化形态的全部内涵即是原始畜牧业初步繁荣的最突出表征和概括。这时沂沭居民已开始经营原始农业 ,但经营水准还非常低下 ;原始畜牧业的迅速发展 ,则使家畜的放牧和饲养成为人们的重要衣食之源 ,并对后来海岱地区原始农业的成长产生重大的影响和推动作用。细石器本身并不适应原始农业的发展 。

The rise of Yishu Microlithic Culture was to meet the emergence and development of primitive animal husbandry. Its whole connotation was a summary and the most striking feature of the preliminary prosperity of primitive animal husbandry. At that time, primitive agriculture had already appeared in Yishu area, but the managing level was still very low. With the quick development of primitive animal husbandry, herding and raising livestock became the main living means, thus greatly affecting and promoting the growth of late primitive agriculture in Haidai area. The microlithic stone tools, however, didn't fit in with the development of primitive agriculture ,so they gradually disappeared at the beginning of the New Stone Age.
