The Construction of Tianjin subway across Ziya river is the most difficult section of the No.I line of the subway.The Ziya river is 6.0 m deep,and there are silt and clay on the riverbed.This paper introduces a safe,credible,no contaminative method——the horizontal freezing method.It describes the principle,feature,design essentials of the horizontal freezing method,as well as the matters which should be taken into attention in construction.
