构建区域中心是 2 1世纪初区域经济竞争的重点。在确立和巩固区域中心地位的过程中 ,高等教育对构建区域中心具有人才支持 ,知识创新、高科技传播与推广作用。在建立中心城市的过程中 ,高校在构建城市文化 ,形成城市精神 ,凸现区域文化特色 ,提升中心城市的文化品位等方面具有十分突出的作用。因而在构建区域中心的过程中应该从战略发展的高度确立高等教育的地位。
