《红楼梦》中,发生过两起父亲责打儿子事件。一是贾政拷打宝玉,二是贾赦杖责贾琏。这是两场不同缘起,不同方式,不同目的,不同结果的恶作剧。其间蕴藏着贾府由盛转衰之必然性的深层原因与写作深意。

There are two scenes in which the father dresses down the son in A dream of Red mansions. One is when Jia Zhen lashes Bao-yu, the other is when Jia She flogs Jia Lian. Both incidents are mischievous pranks although the causes, the ways and the results are different. Both of them contain the profound message that the Jia's Mansion is doomed to decline from prosperity.
