童话的主要特征在于幻想性。童话的幻想具有特殊功能:童话通过幻想培养了儿童一种无畏的、向上的力量;童话中的“善恶报应”观念,使儿童产生一种模仿“善”的力量;童话中的幻想能使儿童压抑的冲动得到释放和宣泄,减少他们犯错的几率。对童话幻想中以上三个功能的张扬,就使儿童在道德情操的培养上有了依托和模仿的对象,从而达到自律。
