There are plenty of hedges in language.And English hedges are a common language phenomenon in verbal conunumnication.In this article the author analyzes the pragmatic functions of hedges from the perspective of language use and interpretation.By analyzing the pragmatic functions of hedeges,on the one hand,the author points out that using hedges appropriately can make the language more polite,mild,implicit,fiexible and effective,thus helping to achieve the purpose of communication,and on the other hand,the misuses of hedges can destroy the effect of langnage,What's more,they can influence the aim of communication.
