On the Female Characters in Yan Geliing' s Novels When Travels Abroad

旅美女作家严歌苓素有“多产多奖”作家之称。她所提供的一系列关于移民/旅居生活的小说,为我们展开了一幅异域生活的真实画卷。本文试以严歌苓小说中的女性人物形象为核心,分析严歌苓域外小说中的边缘书写及其所表现的移民者的边缘处境。并试图透过人物形象描写的表层透视作者内心对人性内涵的关注及其华文写作的深层意义:既是对自己的边缘身份进行某种确认,也是作者反抗中心与主流、证明自我存在的价值与意义的一种方式。

Geling yan,the woman wrlter reslding in America,has often been called a puolific and productive writer.A series of novels about the emigrants and their lives residing abroad display a true- to- life picture of society in foreign lands.This thesis focuses on the women figures in Geling yan's fictions and the emigrants' dire predicament in it is analyxed in this thesis. The author tried to observe this writer' s concern about the humanity cultivation and deeper significance of her Chinese writings through the description of the figures.It' s a kind of confirmation of her identity as an edge person.At the same time,it shows the writer' s opposition to the main stream and her proof of the living merit and significance of herself.
