To be an Excellent Teacher and Forever to Stand in Frontier of Geosciences--Academician Guo Lingzhi's Demeanour in Teaching and Researching

中国科学院院士、著名构造地质学家郭令智教授已经从事教学科研工作近70年,是我国最早引进板块构造理论并倡导把板块理论运用到中国地质实践中去的杰出学者之一。20世纪60年代开始,他和他的研究集体一直研究华南大地构造,最早发现并论证了华南大陆内部存在地球演化早期阶段板块运动机制。半个多世纪以来,他在教书育人和基础地质理论研究方面取得了丰硕成果。本文概述了郭令智教授的学术经历和教学科研轨迹,展示了一名老科学家热爱祖国、献身科学的独特风采和学术成功之路。

Professor Guo Lingzhi is one of the most famous Chinese structural geologists, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and has been working for about 70 years on teaching and scientific study. In China, he is one of the earliest and outstanding scholars 'using plate tectonics theory to study China geology and tectonics' Since the 1960's, he and his research group have been studying geotectonics of South China. They discovered, for the first time, the important evidence of Proterozoic plate movement in the early period of Earth evolution, including ophiolitic melange, CA-type volcanic rock series and island arc-type flysch, proposing the eight geological marks confirming ancient plate boundaries within continental block. In the past 70 years, he loves his motherland, devotes himself to geosciences and has acquired fruitful results in teaching and researching. The author introduced his learning experience, some important results and scholarships, displayed an older scientist's elegant demeanor and successful path.
