Huludao Gives the Second Birth to the Japanese Emigrants and Prisoners of War

摘要 The Japanese government declared surrender at discretion in 1945, and then the Chinese won theWar of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. At that time there were more than 1.3 millionJapanese emigrants and prisoners of war staying at the northeast China.From the middle ten days of April 1946, the repatriation started. The Japanese emigrants and prisonersof war from all parts of the northeast China were got together in Huludao, China’s Liaoning Province,waiting for repatriation by stages and batches. Abiding by humanitarianism, the Chinese gave the Japanesea selfless help. Many of them said that they had got the second birth in Huludao. They now still keep inmind constantly that they were once given the help from the Chinese. Some repatriated Japanese applythemselves to the activities for the friendship between China and Japan.In order to remember the history and oppose the war as well as shout for peace, a delegation organizedby the Information Department of the CPC Huludao Committee and the Information Office of HuludaoGovernment went to Japan for an interview with some Japanese emigrants and prisoners of war fromHuludao. This article is the record of the interview.Certainly, both Chinese and Japanese have a common wish that they will create a peaceful, steadyand flourishing future together. How good the peace is and how great the friendship is for the people ofJapan and China!
