古希腊城邦社会实质上是一个伦理实体。等级化是这一社会秩序最显著的特征。处于社会不同等级秩序中的成员拥有各自的功能,他们功能的有序发挥意味着德性的和谐与统一。德性的统一从两个向度上折射出来:一是哲学家的理论努力,二是等级化的社会现实。如果撇开等级化的社会秩序,德性的统一将无从谈起。

Polis society of ancient Greek is substantially one ethical entity.Hierarchization is the most salient features of the social order.Members with different hierarchization ranks possess respective functions,and the exert of their functions in order means harmony and uniform of virtue.The uniform of virtue is incarnated in the following two sides:one is the philosophers' efforts in theory,the other is the reality of hierarchization of the society.The uniform of virtue will be impossible if we put aside hierarchization of the social order.
