Polite words reflect the traditions of Chinese culture.By analyzing some typical Chinese polite words,this paper shows the pragmatic differences between Chinese and English,and points out that in order to achieve pragmatic equivalence in translation,the translator should pay attention to the context and make sure that the information in the source language is accurately and acceptably conveyed in the target language.
