Many different ways can be used to access the serial port, which includes the call function of DOS and the call function of BIOS. But there are some problems when they are applied to the practice. We can solve these problems effectively by reforming the hardware of the serial port or directly write a program for the interface register of 8250. They are proved having good effects in reality. Both of these ways are effective except being applied to the serial port that is connected with MODEM.
