艾德莱斯绸是新疆少数民族女性,特别是维吾尔族女性最喜爱的衣料,用艾德莱斯绸手制的裙子几乎成了她们集会、节日的礼服。
Etles silk is the most favorite dress material of the Uygur women in Xinjiang. Etles silk is also known as tie-dyed silk. Dyeing is carried out on the warp threads which have been bound in such a way so as to produce the desired pattern---mostly flowers, branches, fruits, combs, tassels and precious stones. Some of designs are based on sickle, hammer, saw and rewarp---a musical instrument. The silk, beautiful in color feels comfortable. The dresses sewn with the silk of an arresting distinctiveness fully display the unique local flavor.
