The desertification, water shortage plus pollution are posing menace to the eco-environment of Minqin County, Gansu Province. Talking of the eco-system, local officials would speak along the same line: improving in some areas but deteriorating as a whole. It seems to us that the former part of the word was only a self-consoled excuse while the latter, a clear proof of the nature's vindictive blow to human society. In spite of the facts that the supreme instruction warned that Minqin should never be allowed to become another Lop Nur and the cognition was repeatedly affirmed in various voices some 20 years ago: if Minqin disappeared, Wuwei and Jinchang counties would be exposed to devastation and the Hexi Corridor, cut in the middle, even if Minqin people are going all out to combat desertification. However, it is deemed to be a problem of time that Minqin will disappear. This is no secret.
