During the 12 years from 1899 to 1911, Wilson, a celebrated natural scientist, botanist, explorer and writer from UK made 4 trips to China for collecting plant specimens, leaving his footmarks all over Sichuan, Yunnan, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces. He gathered some 4700 varieties of plants, 65000 plant specimens and introduced more than 1000 fine varieties of the plants to the western countries. Thanks to his tremendous achievements in collecting and researching Chinese plants, he was acclaimed as 'China's Wilson', which glorified the remainder of his life, making him a legendary figure in the horticultural history of the world.
